I teach children and adults aged 8 and over. In some circumstances the school may consider younger students, please get in touch for an assessment for your child.
Not at all. All my students have different needs, and this is always the main priority. Grades from all exam boards can be taught, and while we advocate them, they are never compulsory.
Lessons run weekly. In the event you cancel a lesson, every effort will be made to offer an alternative date/time to catchup, this however cannot be guaranteed and is on a availability basis. If you are unable to attend on the offered replacement date then unfortunately the lesson would be lost. Catchup lessons cannot be rolled over to the next calendar month.
In the event that the teacher is unable to carry out a lesson, then another time will be offered, if this is not possible for the student then the lesson would roll over to the next week.
Payment for lessons will be on the 4th lesson of each block.
After your first initial lesson, future lessons are reserved and paid for in blocks of 4. Each subsequent payment is made on the fourth lesson . Payment can be made by BACS transfer (Online Banking). Currently i do not accept cash or Paypal payments.
I would kindly ask all parents/students to give four lessons notice if they would like to terminate lessons.
Unfortunately there is no refund for lessons that are booked and not fulfilled by the customer. In any circumstance where Rhythmikal Tuition has to cancel any lesson, the lesson would be rebooked at the convienience of the customer.
Online lessons are very simple to setup. All that is required is a PC/Mac or laptop. Most devices these days have a webcam and microphone built in, but if your device doesn't have one they are very easy and inexpensive to get. Smart phones and Ipads are also good for online lessons, however we do recommend using one of the other options due to the bigger screen size available.
Not necessarily. Many students can learn a great deal about rhythm and time without a drumkit, usng body percussion and other items around the house. In the beginning this is absolutely fine, later on we would recommend purchasing a second hand basic drumkit to really get the most out of the course.
We all know how loud a drumkit can be, but it doesn't have to be a problem anymore! Today we have electronic drumkits which offer near silent practice and performance, without disturbing your neighbours, or you! If you have a traditional acoustic kit, you can place dampeners onto the drums to reduce the noise.
If you already have some sticks then bring them along, only wood tipped drumsticks please and no nylon tipped sticks.
When you have had your first drum lesson we would also ask you to bring a notepad to make notes and write down homework.
